 What is Greenbrier Enrichment Center & School?

Greenbrier Enrichment Center and School is a ministry of Greenbrier Community Church providing a developmentally appropriate program for Two Year Olds through private Fifth Grade.

 What curriculum do you use?

Our preschool program uses the Weekday Early Education Curriculum published by Convention Press. We supplement our curriculum with a variety of resources.  Kindergarten - Fifth grade uses a child centered, hands on curriculum that employs whole language techniques and a strong phonics program.  Math is taught in the concrete format before introducing any abstract concepts.  All children have a Bible study time each day with a Chapel service once a week.

 What are the qualifications of your teachers?

Our minimum requirement for Kindergarten - Fifth grade teachers is State Certification with endorsement in Elementary or Early Childhood Education.  It is our desire that Preschool teachers have a degree or are currently pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education.

 How many children are there in each classroom?

Two Year Olds: 8 to 10 children/1 teacher

Three Year Olds: 10 children/1 teacher

Four Year Olds: 15 children/2 teacher

Kindergarten: 18 children/2 teachers

First-Fifth Grade: 15 children/1 teacher

 Do you provide daycare?

Yes. We are open from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM.  School hours for Kindergarten - Fifth grade are 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.  Summer hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

 Is your Daycare state licensed?

We are governed by the requirements of the Social Service but we are religious exempt.

 Do you serve meals?

Yes. Children enrolled in our Twos through Fours program receive a hot meal for lunch.  School age children (Kindergarten - Fifth grade) bring their lunch from home. On Tuesday through Thursday have an option to buy. 

Do you offer After School Care for Public School children?

Yes, after school care is provided for 20 students from Greenbrier Primary and Greenbrier Intermediate, First Grade - 12 years old.

Do you offer a Summer Program?

Yes, we provide year round care for our Twos, Threes and Fours. We offer a Summer Program for Kindergarten through 12 years old that involves Bible Study, Units, Crafts, and Field Trips. This year's theme is "Catch the Ride". 

Where is the school located?

The school is located at Greenbrier Community Church, 825 Greenbrier Prkwy., Chesapeake.  It is directly across the street from Chesapeake City Park & the "Fun Forest" play area .  We are housed in the largest facility on the grounds.

What is the age requirement for entering our Kindergarten?

Your child must be five years old by June 15th to enter our program in the Fall.  This is different than the state of Virginia.
